Heading for Holden Village

Our sabbatical journey began officially on Tuesday.  Sunday during worship our family received a wonderful sabbatical blessing from Pastor Louise and the congregation.  We have felt so much love and support as we start this sabbatical adventure!

This week our children spent their last week in preschool for the school year.  Luke graduated from preschool and is headed to kindergarten in September.  We spent a lot of time as a family hanging out these last few days, tying up loose ends and preparing for our travels.  Luke and Joy, Mommy and Daddy went to many of our favorite parks in Tacoma and hung out in our backyard on the sunny days.

Tomorrow we're off to Leavenworth and then to Wenatchee to stay overnight with friends before heading to Holden Village Monday morning.  Holden Village is a Lutheran retreat center in the Cascades.  We will take a ferry from near Chelan up Lake Chelan, get off at Lucerne, and then take an old school bus about 45 minutes up a winding, gravel road to the old mining village called Holden.  We look forward to time away from phones, internet, and cars to enjoy God's creation, worship, reading, hiking, and family time.
