Oahu, Hawaii!

We made it to Hawaii!  We're staying at Kailua on the island of Oahu with close access to a beautiful white sand beach with perfect water for swimming.  What a blessing!

When we arrived in Kailua, we were welcomed with orchid leis by our friends Mary and Dwight who live here.  We sampled a wonderful variety of Hawaiian and Asian foods with them, including kalbi (Korean BBQ ribs), chow fun (Chinese noodles), agedashi tofu (Japanese tofu), Chinese fried chicken wings, Japanese Panko breaded prawns -- talk about a mixed plate of food items!  And last night we went to a farmer's market and I tried pan-seared ahi (tuna) on rice, a Hawaiian specialty.  This is paradise!

The kids are loving the beach!  It's hot, but the water is so refreshing!  We're still on Tacoma time (3 hours time difference), so it was no problem to wake up at 5:30 am this morning (8:30 am Tacoma time) to watch the sun rise on our beach.  It's our third day here, and we're just getting used to the rhythms of this place -- more pics and stories to come.
